The Semana del Cortometraje de la Comunidad de Madrid [the Region of Madrid Short Film Week] will go all out in the month of March to celebrate ten years of disseminating short-film format films. For this reason, the Madrid Consejeria de Cultura y Turismo is preparing a wide range of special activities with the aim of reviewing short films shown over the course of the past decade. From 4th to 9th March 2008 at the Cine Bellas Artes, the Ateneo de Madrid, and in various other cinema venues, there will be projections and special sessions of Spanish domestic and international short films, to which will be added a special edition titled Diez años en Corto [Ten Years of Short Films], which will provide a complete review of the 379 short films which have been subsidised by the Region of Madrid between 1999 and 2007 and been part of the Muestra de Cortometrajes de la Comunidad de Madrid [Region of Madrid Selection of Short Films] , the core of the Semana del Cortometraje [Short Film Week]. A special DVD will also be presented, along with a report on short films in the Region of Madrid. There will be numerous activities directed at short filmmakers and their fans: a script writers gathering, a script writers and producers gathering, workshops, special sessions in libraries and a broad range of film sessions to commemorate this anniversary.
